Jivika Didis are preparing food for the girl students at the Ambedkar Girls Residential School. In the evening on January 9, 2024 the girl students ate half baked rice and became prey of food poisoning. They complained vomiting, stomachache and giddiness. The ailing girl students Nisha Kumari of Class VIII, Vinita Kumari of Class VII, Anisha Kumari of Class IX, said at the Ara Sadar Hospital that the Jivika Didis served raw rice and unhygienic food items to them in the evening on January 9, 2024 to eat. After eating they fell ill and some of them were admitted to the Ara Sadar Hospital while most of them are still at the School. They further said they were served unhygienic food for the last several days and they had complained to the Principal of the School and the District Welfare Officer (DWO) on mobile but they paid little heed to their complaint and as a result, they became prey of food poisoning.
Teacher of the School, Vijeta Kumari said that the oven of the school kitchen had developed some snag and so the rice remained somewhat unripe which was served the students and as the result they fell ill and they were admitted to the Ara Sadar Hospital.
The District Welfare Officer Rameshwar Ram refused to say anything on the issue. On the other hand, Dr. Kripashankar, treating the ailing girl students said that the ailing students complained vomiting, loose motion and giddiness which are symptoms of food poisoning.
