--Additional District and Session Judge VI, Ara Civil Court, Arvind Kumar Singh awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment to two persons and also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on each of them in connection with outraging modesty of a teenage girl. The court also ordered to government to give Rs. 5 lakh to the victim as compensation.
Ara, 11 July 2023, (RNI): Additional District and Session Judge VI, Ara Civil Court, Arvind Kumar Singh awarded 20 years rigorous imprisonment to two persons and also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on each of them in connection with outraging modesty of a teenage girl. The court also ordered to government to give Rs. 5 lakh to the victim as compensation.
SPP Saroj Kumari said that a teenage girl was returning home at a village under Koelwar police station after making her Adhar Card on October 29, 2016 when three youths caught her from behind near Giddha Paper Mill Pond and outraged her modesty. Hearing the cry of the girl, the villagers came there and nabbed Chandan Kumar son of Amit Kumar Singh of Udaybhanpur village under Krishnagarh police station while two other escaped from the scene. A named FIR was lodged with the police under Koelwar police station in this regard.
After hearing both the parties, the ADJ VI convicted Chandan Kumar son of Amit Kumar Singh of Udaybhanpur village under Krishnagarh police station and Golu Singh son of Mahesh Singh of Devarath village under Badahra police station under section 376(D) IPC. The court awarded them rigorous 20 years imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 on each of them. The court also ordered the government to give Rs.5 lakh to the victim.
