A meeting of the 11th Scientific Advisory Committee of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhojpur was organized. Chief Guest, Dr. R K Suhane, Director, Extension Education, Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour, guest of honour Dr. Anjani Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR, Atari Zone, Patna, Dr. D B Singh, Principal Scientist, Atari Patna, Dr. P K Dwiwedi, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK,Bhojpur, Sneha Sheetal, Manager, Jeevika, Kisan Bhushan, Bheem Raj Rai jointly inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial candle. Apart from it, the activities and achievements  related to various works by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the work plan for the year 2024-2025 was reviewed in the meeting.

FARMERS OF BHOJPUR DISTRICT SHOULD STOP BURNING STUBBLE FOR SUSTAINABLE AND BETTER FARMING-Dr. SUHANE

Chief Guest, Dr. R K Suhane, Director, Extension Education, Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour, guest of honour Dr. Anjani Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR, Atari Zone, Patna, Dr. D B Singh, Principal Scientist, Atari Patna, Dr. P K Dwiwedi, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK,Bhojpur, Sneha Sheetal, Manager, Jeevika, Kisan Bhushan, Bheem Raj Rai jointly inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial candle. Apart from it, the activities and achievements  related to various works by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the work plan for the year 2024-2025 was reviewed in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Director, Extension Education, Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour Dr. R K Suhane said that the problem of stubble burning is also in a serious situation due to which at some places, adverse effects are being seen on the environment along with the fertility of the fields. He stressed that there is a need to collectively thing about it and stop it. If in the future, farmers of 10 to 12 acres will collectively dispose of their stubble and want to sell it, a C B plant has been established at Ghusia Khurd at Bikramganj in Rohtas district. The C B Plant will purchase their entire stubble and the farmers will also get a fixed price in return and the Krishi Vigyan Kendra will work as an important link.

Dr. Ajani Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR, Atari Zone 4, Patna while giving instructions to establish a serious nutrition gardens in the district under the Nari Yojana, said that there is no shortage of funds. Government of India wishes that this will be a good medium of awareness to remove malnutrition in the district. People can grow fresh and healthy vegetables as per their choices in their kitchen gardens. He advised to select an ideal village of Shree Anna and new income based opportunities should be created for the people by organizing various intense value addition programmes related to its production and various types of value.

Dr. P K Dwiwedi, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhojpur informed that the programme for the development of resource conservation technology in the district has been running since 2001 and today water and land conservation is being done using modern technology in more than 47000 acres of land in the district and as a result, farmers are saving crores of rupees per every year. He added that many important programmes are going on for the development of oilseeds and pulses in the district in which this scheme is being implemented under the Seed Hub Programme with the cooperation of the Government of India and this year 600 quintals of advanced variety lentils IPL 220 and 400 quintals of small grain gram variety GNG 2299 have been produced by the Seed centre and this seeds are available to the farmers at a reasonable price.

Kisan Bhushan Bhim Raj Rai expressed concern over the excessing use of urea and said that it is reducing the PH value of the soil and it means the soil is becoming acidic. He stressed to make people aware more and more in this direction.

Principal Scientist of Atari, D V Singh suggested and stressed need to adopt animal husbandry, fish farming as well as horticulture crops in the district if the  farmers wish to change their direction and condition.

Senior Bank Manager, Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank, Madan Pandey said that the bank is always ready for the farmers but there is a need for the right knowledge and training related to it and added if both these things are done, the bank will leave no stone unturned in giving loans.

Manager, Sudha Dairy, said that the dairy runs fodder production awareness camps and animal health check-up camps for the farmers regularly. Female farmer, Vidya Rani stressed on modern machines for drying mushrooms and demanded that efforts should be made towards making it available.  

Woman entrepreneur Sunita Kumari, Sugarcane Industry Department Project Director, Atma, Rana Rajeev Ranjan Singh, Block Horticulture Officer besides farmers from different areas of Bhojpur district, Kaushal Singh, Director, Pea Producer Organization, Drone Service Provider Aditya Singh, Praveen Kumar Singh Khesarihan Seed Producing farmer along with Khesarihan’ Service provider farmer Sanjeev Kumar Singh and other were present on the occasion and also expressed their views.
