BHABHUA-------------------------Teams of the NDRF and SDRF after much efforts rescued 11 tourists from the Karakatgarh Waterfall in Kaimur district and brought them to safety after 17 hours. The tourists struggled between life and death for about 17 long hours.
About 11 people from Rohtas had come to visit Karkatgarh Waterfall in Kaimur district and they had had just started cooking on the top of the beach stone. Meanwhile, at about 2 O’Clock in the afternoon, the water level of the Karakatgarh Waterfall suddenly increased and all the tourists trapped in the middle of sudden burst of water on the rock mound. The villagers informed the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, Kaimur and also the SHO, Chainpur police station. On information, the officials of the district swung into action and at once informed the Patna Headquarters. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were requisitioned and pressed into rescue operation. In the joint rescue operation, the NDRF and SDRF teams rescued all the 11 tourists trapped in the reservoir. Everyone was rescued safely and taken out of Karkatgarh Waterfalls. The tourists who were rescued to safety were identified as Saroj Kumar son of Angad Chauhan, Ajit Kumar son of Kanchan Ram, Md. Firoz Barsen son of Mumtaz, Arman Ali son of Mubarak Ali, Nirbhay Pandey son of Kamla Pandey, Pintu Chauhan son of Ram Kailas Chauhan, Rohit Kumar son of Manoj Chauhan, Lal Babu Singh son of Bhrigu Singh, Arvind Kumar son of late Kamal Chauhan, Wasim Sahi son of Asim Sahi and Saroj Kumar son of late Ram Chandra Chauhan. All of them were residents of under Kochas police station area in Rohtas district. .
On lookers said that all the tourists who were trapped in the Karakatgarh Waterfall were struggling for their lives with the help of trees and stones throughout the night and added had the water level of the reservoir increased even a little, a major accident could have happened.
