Sleuths of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi conducted raids at Bhojpur and Buxar district. and arrested 10 smugglers and seized 45 kilograms of tusks from there.

ARA/BUXAR-----------------------Sleuths of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi conducted raids at Bhojpur and Buxar district. and arrested 10 smugglers and seized 45 kilograms of tusks from there. The arrested smugglers were identified as Upendra Singh, Ashish Singh, Narendra Singh Akash Singh of Mirganj locality under Ara town police station and Pradeep Singh Chhinegaon village under Sinha police station in Bhojpur district, Manoj Kumar, Dhananjay Prasad Singh, Paras Nath Ram, and Ganpat Sah from Devkuli village under Brahmpur police station in Buxar district. Police said that other members of the gang would be arrested very soon.
The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi got locations of the smugglers in Bhojpur and Buxar district and so the team reached Ara and Buxar and conducted raid in a house at Mirganj locality under Ara town police station in Bhojpur district and also in a house at Devkuli village under Brahmpur police station in Buxar district and arrested 10 smugglers from there and also seized 45 kg of tusks.
Reportedly, after coming to Ara and Buxar, the members of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau laid trap and dealt with the smugglers and the deal was struck at Rs. 11.25crore and the smugglers fell into the trap. Later the police arrested them and also seized 45kg of tusks.
The Wildlife Protection Act 1972 provides for a protected animal specified at serial number 83 in Schedule 1 of the Wilflife Protection Act 1972 (amended 2022), hunting, attempting to hunt it, possession of any of its endangered species and its possession, one cannot buy and sell as per the Act.
